SantasWardrobe Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
Why should I buy my Santa Suit from Adele's of Hollywood?
Many Santa's will tell you that a Custom Made Suit from Adele's of Hollywood is made to last. She makes sure that a busy Santa will be able to use his suit for many years. And she takes the time to carefully construct your suit to your measurements. The quality and craftsmanship from her shop far exceeds what you will normally find in most Costume Shops.
What is the Difference between Adele's Santa Suit and other Costume Shops.
Adele's suits are made to last. In fact, her suits will last years, probably outlasting Santa. Ninety-nine percent of the Costume Shops or Web sites that offer Santa Suits are selling pre-made, imported Suits, usually made overseas. Yes, some of them do look awfully good. But, when you look closely, you will often find that these suits are not made for the Professional working Santa. Most of them wrinkle easy, are probably un-lined, and are made to be worn just one day a year, and then put away. The craftsmanship is often of a low quality and the material cannot take the daily wear and tear of a full Holiday Season, year after year.
How Long Has Adele been making Santa Suits.?
Adele has been making Customs Santa Suits for over 30 years and is the largest maker of Custom, Made in the USA, Santa Suits. Many of the Top Santa's in the United States have been coming to Adele for years. One Santa, Brady White, "Santa to the Start©" has over Forty (40) Customs Suits from her shop. Her team of seamstresses and helpers supply many of the major Photo companies in the United States and one year they actually created over 600 suits for a special order. News crews and documentary companies from all over the world have featured her work. Most recently you may have seen her in one of the bonus features found on the ELF DVD's.
In addition to Santa Suits, Adele's also supplies custom costumes and accessories to many television and film companies.
What kind of materials are used for the Santa Suits?
Professional Santas need to have quality Santa Suits that will be Comfortable, Long Wearing, Easy to Clean and always look good for the Camera. Adele's only uses the best materials that meet these needs. The number one choice for these needs is an imported, non-bleeding, German cotton velvet. It wears extremely well, does not flatten or show wrinkles, and it dry cleans beautifully with no running of the color.
For the lining of our suits, pants and hats we generally use a rayon or synthetic Satin in bright red. If your lining ever shows, it is usually very flattering. It is also color fast and easy to dry clean.
Most of our Fur is made here in the United States, in South Carolina. Again, it must be easy to dry clean and of a quality that will not matt up or lump when cleaned.
We also custom make our belts from a leather-look black vinyl and our buckles are heavy duty and brass plated. We can also make leather-look vinyl boot tops if you do not have real boots. But a Professional Santa would never be caught dead with fake boot tops. (Click here to see our custom boots)
What about Crushed Velvets or Custom Velvet?
There are many beautiful velvets and other materials that can be used to make your custom Santa Suit. Adele's has made Suits from all types of materials. If you have something special in mind, please write us and we will call you to discuss what we can do for you.
Should I have Fur on by pants Cuff or leave it off?
The fur we see at the top of the boots is actually supposed to be the lining of the boot turned out. The Traditional Santa was wearing an outfit for Cold weather, so originally much of the fur we see was actually from the lining of his coat and boots. The correct way to have a plain cuff on your pants and tuck it into the boot. The boot should have the fur attached to the top of the boot. (Click here to see our custom boots)
If your boots do not already have fur on the top, when ordering a Suit from Adele, you can request fur toppers to attach to your boots.
